Prep Report: Triton Central baseball completes conference sweep of Scecina

Hayden May twirled a three-hitter and struck out seven to keep Class 2A, No. 5 Triton Central atop the Indiana Crossroads Conference standings with a 6-1 win Wednesday at Indianapolis Scecina.

The Tigers (12-1, 8-0 ICC) scored a single run in the first and added a pair of runs in the second and third innings then let May and the defense do the rest.

Eli Sego and Janssen Capps each had two hits.

Henry Weimer went the distance on the mound for the Crusaders (2-13, 2-6 ICC) and took the loss.

Triton Central is the only unbeaten team left in the ICC standings. Cascade is lurking at 10-2 (7-1 ICC). The Cadets and Tigers meet in a two-game series next week.

Baseball

Hauser 15, Southwestern 0

At Southwestern, an 8-run fourth inning propelled the Jets to the Mid-Hoosier Conference win. Stryker Gill had three hits and drove in three runs. Lukas Christian had two hits and three RBI.

Holden Pittman allowed two hits and struck out six in a five-inning, complete-game performance for Hauser (8-5, 4-0 MHC).

Southwestern dropped to 1-6 (1-4 MHC).

Delta 6, Shelbyville 3

At Delta, the visiting Golden Bears built a 3-0 lead on the road but the Eagles produced six runs in the fourth inning to earn the Hoosier Heritage Conference win.

Zane Cline had a bases-clearing double in that key fourth inning that helped Delta improve to 8-5 (4-5 HHC). Cline also pitched a scoreless seventh inning in relief of starter Kayden Thomas to get the save.

Aiden Smith took the loss for Shelbyville (5-7, 3-4 HHC). The junior allowed eight hits and struck out nine in six innings of work.

Grantland Fitzgerald had a pair of hits and Brock Kuhn and Donavon Martin drove in runs.

Boys golf

Triton Central 185, Whiteland 194

At Hawk’s Tail Golf Course, Chase Chandler shot 44 to earn the medalist honor and lead the Tigers over the Warriors.

Also competing for Triton Central were Garrett Eberhardt (46), Taggy Goul (47), Derreck Uhls (48) and Max Ray (50).

Softball

Indianapolis Lutheran 12, Triton Central 2

At Triton Central, the Class A, No. 8 Saints scored four runs in each of the first two innings to stay unbeaten in the ICC standings.

Brooklyn Barger scattered six hits and five walks over seven innings and struck out six to improve the Saints to 9-4 (4-0 ICC). She also had three hits, scored two runs and drove in a run.

Zoe Sondag had three hits and five RBI.

Jalynn Keith led Triton Central (4-5, 1-3 ICC) with three hits. Madi Peterson had two hits and two RBI.

Girls tennis

Triton Central 3, Speedway 2

At Speedway, Maryrose Felling won a three-set match at No. 1 singles over Daniella Galvez, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 to secure the win for Triton Central (6-3).

Anniston Evans was victorious at No. 3 singles over Olivia Johnson, 6-3, 6-0. And Allison Howley and Kaylynn Washburn defeated Hsa Eh Say and June Theodore, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
