Prep Report: Class 2A, No. 5 Triton Central stays unbeaten against ICC foes

Class 2A, No. 5 Triton Central stayed unbeaten in the Indiana Crossroads Conference standings Tuesday with a 4-2 win over Indianapolis Scecina.

Bryce Haney improved to 4-0 this season and lowered his earned run average to 1.27 with a six-inning performance. The junior allowed three hits and two walks while striking out 14 Crusaders.

Janssen Capps earned the save.

Hayden May had two hits and drove in two runs to lead the Tigers (11-1, 7-0 ICC). Haney also had two hits.

Scecina (2-12, 2-5 ICC) will host Triton Central today to complete the ICC two-game series.

Baseball

Waldron 17, Tri 7

At Waldron, an eight-run fourth inning made the difference for Waldron (6-4). The Mohawks had eight hits and capitalized off 10 Tri errors to win their second straight contest.

Jordan Bennett had two hits and Hunter Dodson, Jacob Bennett and Corbin Yantiss each drove in two runs.

Dodson and Jackson Kuhn combined to limit the Titans (0-7) to three hits while striking out 10.

Waldron travels Thursday to South Decatur (5-3) for a Mid-Hoosier Conference contest.

Irvington Prep 3, Morristown 0

At Irvington Prep, K.J. Rankin Jr. scattered three hits and six walks while notching eight strikeouts to improve the Ravens to 7-2. Cortez Jenkins secured the final two outs for the save.

Irvington Prep scored single runs in each of the first three innings.

Morristown (4-7) hosts Edinburgh (5-5-1) Thursday for a Mid-Hoosier Conference game.

Softball

Cascade 14, Triton Central 4

At Cascade, the Class 2A, No. 2 Cadets scored in every inning and rolled to the ICC victory.

Tara Gruca, Macey Pugh and Grace Gray each had three hits for Cascade (10-1, 3-0 ICC). Gray scored three runs and had three RBI.

Lillian Fillippinie, Madi Peterson and Jalynn Keith had two hits apiece for Triton Central (4-4, 1-2 ICC).

The Tigers host Class A, No. 8 Indianapolis Lutheran (8-4, 3-0 ICC) today at 5:30 p.m.

Morristown 13, Providence Cristo Rey 3

At Morristown, Nevaeh Cox had four hits, scored three hits and drove in two to lead the Yellow Jackets to the win.

Mykynzy Smith, Alexia Rogers and Charli Marcum each had two hits for Morristown (3-4).

Abby Hawk pitched a complete game, allowing two hits and six walks while striking out nine.

The Yellow Jackets host Edinburgh (0-9) Thursday.
