Two Lehman Catholic single-season records were broken on Thursday evening to close out the regular season for the Cavaliers. Jake Emrick scored 4 goals to up his total on the season to a record 34, while Michael Denning recorded 3 assists to get to 18 on the year, another Lehman Catholic single-season record. Emrick also got two assists on the night with Denning scoring two goals as well. Matthew McDonald also helped on another goal with an assist.
“Jake and Michael have worked well together and have had tremendous support from the rest of the squad,” said Lehman coach Tom Wiseman. “Congratulations to both players.”
As far as the game result, Lehman dropped a heartbreaker 6-5 to Franklin-Monroe, for a result that left Wiseman a little salty.
‘We’ll just use the word interesting,” said Wiseman. “We encountered a style of play that we are not used to seeing. I can say, though, that I’ve never been prouder of our boys than tonight. They fought all night and came back to make it a game, and played with toughness and integrity. It’s a win in my book based upon the circumstances. This team is ready for tournament play.”
Lehman starts tourney play on Tuesday, hosting Greeneview at 5pm, in a return match-up from last year’s first-round.
