Sidney Civic Band Concert Friday, June 16, 2017, 7:00 p.m. on the north side of the courthouse square.
“Our first concert – LIGHT FAVORITES AND WELL KNOWNS will feature audience favorites through the years. These selections hit all the notes – marches, ballads, movie themes, swing, dance and pop,” states conductor Phil Chilcote.
The concert will include March Grandioso, Syncopated Clock, Them Basses, All Shook Up, The Great Escape, Barnum and Bailey’s Favorite, Blue Tango, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, It’s The Gospel, Colonel Bogey and Highlights from The Music Man – and closes with our signature selections: God Bless America and The United States official march: The Stars and Stripes Forever.
The Band will again welcome local high school students in the Apprentice Program, giving them an opportunity to play with experienced players and learn new techniques. They are: Lauren Birkmeyer, flute; Fort Loramie, Joe Ritze, clarinet; Lehman, Avery Voress (returning), Tuba; Sidney, and Kambria Hamilton (returning), Horn; Fairlawn.
Refreshments will be available for purchase from Connection Point Church of God Relay for Life team, beginning 30 minutes prior to the concert. A Spot pie will be given away to the winner of The Spot Pie Question random drawing. The audience may also vote for their favorite Sidney Civic Band piece to be included in the Finale Concert.
The remaining summer concerts are as follows: June 23rd, The Swing Era Band; June 30th, Patriotic Concert; July 7th, A Concert Dedicated to Frank Neville Jr. and His Music; July 14th, Hollywood and Vine Meets Marching Right in Time; and July 21st, Finale -The Top Ten (or More) Concert.
Remember to bring a chair to the square, and in case of rain, the concert will be held at Connection Point Church of God, 1510 Campbell Road.
